Mrs. Doreen Owusu – Fianko

Mrs. Doreen Owusu – Fianko is the Chairperson of TOSS. She has over 40 years’ experience in the Aviation and Tourism industries having been Head of Corporate Planning and Commercial Departments of Ghana Airways, a Pioneer Director of the then New Ministry of Tourism and eventually Executive Director of Ghana Tourist Board. Her last appointment in the Public Services was the Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Ltd.

Throughout her career, she has travelled extensively to Africa, Europe, North America, Middle and the Far East representing Government in various bilateral and multilateral negotiations and also in the opening of new routes in Africa, Middle East, Europe and North America for Ghana Airways.  Her desire is to continue to use her immense experience for development of the Aviation and Tourism industry not only in Ghana but the entire African continent.

In 2010 she received the Millennium Excellence Award for Tourism Promotion and was adjudged the CIMG Marketing Woman of the year in the same year. In 2011 she caught the eye of IMANI Ghana, and was named the 1st of the 5 Inspirational Public Sector Leaders in Ghana. The West Africa Nobles Forum (WANF), a non-governmental, non-religious, non-profit making organization presented her with the “Nobles International Award” for being an Eminent West African who upholds the virtues of Honesty, Integrity and Accountability.  In addition, at the recently held Emerging Airports Conference in Dubai, she was adjudged the “Woman in Aviation” in recognition of the key role she has played in the development of Aviation and Tourism in Africa.  

In addition to all the numerous personal awards, she led the Ghana Airports Company Limited to make a major leap in its operations resulting in the .company receiving several international awards including the International Arch of Europe Award in Gold Category in cognizance of the Company’s achievements in Quality, Excellence and Technology; and Kotoka International Airport being adjudged the Best Airport in Africa 2010/2011, twice winner of the Routes Africa Airport Marketing Awards for distinguished good service delivery and development of new routes; Corporate Achievement award for Outstanding Leadership and Service in the Aviation Industry among others.

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Paul Harris Fellow Rotary International and is actively involved in community & humanitarian activities with her club in Ghana.
